Celebrating Tradition – Preserving Heritage – Building Community.
Established in 2005 in Vadodara, Gujarat, the Kalpvrux Durgotsab Committee (KDC) is a vibrant socio-cultural organisation committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural, spiritual, and artistic heritage of Bengal. Over the years, KDC has grown into a respected platform that brings together Bengalis and people from diverse communities through shared celebrations, cultural exchange, and community engagement.
Rooted in the timeless traditions of Bengal, KDC seeks to create a meaningful connection between generations while embracing the multicultural ethos of modern India. We believe that culture is a living legacy, one that preserves identity, fosters belonging, and evolves through interaction with other communities and traditions.
Our activities extend beyond religious observances to include cultural programmes, artistic performances, literary initiatives, and community gatherings that showcase the richness and diversity of Bengali heritage. Through the celebration of Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Saraswati Puja, and Kali Puja (celebrated for only three years), KDC continues to nurture a strong sense of cultural pride while promoting inclusivity and social harmony.
What truly distinguishes KDC is its unique character. While our celebrations are Sarbojanin (open and inclusive to all), the organisation is driven by a closely-knit group of families who share a common passion for culture, tradition, and community service. This spirit of togetherness has shaped KDC into more than an organisation; it has evolved into the KDC Family, where relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to preserving our heritage.

Our Journey: A Tradition Nurtured with Dedication
Since its inception, KDC has sought to recreate the authentic spirit of Bengal's festivals in Vadodara, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their cultural roots. A defining moment in our journey came in 2006, when skilled artisans from Durgapur, West Bengal, travelled to Vadodara to
Our encouragement
The celebrations were further elevated by the participation of four Dhakis and two Kansi players from Bolpur, whose rhythmic performances recreated the unmistakable ambiance of Durga Puja in Bengal. Their contribution reinforced KDC's commitment to authenticity and cultural excellence.
Open to all
Over the years, the scale and impact of the celebrations have continued to grow, reflecting the unwavering support of members, well-wishers, volunteers, and patrons who have been integral to the organisation's success. So we welcome every visitor t be a part of this celebration.
Our significant Milestone
A significant milestone was achieved in 2021, when the responsibility of leading KDC's Durgotsab was entrusted entirely to the Ladies' Group of KDC. Since then, all key office-bearer positions have been held by women, making KDC a pioneering example of women-led community leadership within the Durga Puja ecosystem of Gujarat.

Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Future Generations
For nearly two decades, KDC has remained dedicated to celebrating the values, traditions, and artistic expressions that define Bengali culture. Beyond organising festivals, the Committee serves as a cultural institution that strengthens community bonds, fosters inter-cultural understanding, and provides a platform for preserving traditions in a rapidly changing world.
As a home away from home for Bengalis in Vadodara, KDC continues to create opportunities for cultural engagement, spiritual enrichment, and collective celebration. Through the active participation of families, youth, and community members, we strive to ensure that the heritage of Bengal remains vibrant, relevant, and accessible to future generations.
While geography may place us far from Bengal, our traditions, values, and cultural identity remain deeply rooted in its spirit. Through devotion, unity, and collective endeavour, Kalpvrux Durgotsab Committee continues to celebrate the essence of Bengal while fostering meaningful connections across communities.
